Super Two
Championship
Round 1 - 4th May 2003 - Larkhall
Super Two Gets Underway At Larkhall
Wins for Chamberlain, Mills, Wilkins and Smith in a day of unpredictable weather that had some drivers on slicks and some on wets in the heats.
In Honda Cadet, Jordan Chamberlain (Project One) had an easy win after a good start from third on the grid. Ryan Denton (Bowman) ran third but eventually caught and passed Lewis Reeves (LRG) for second.
Simon Mills won the Honda Junior class comfortably from Jake Clifford (MS) and Martyn Lyell (7TDB). Jake made his experience tell by just holding off Martyn who was having his first S2 race.
The weather had really jumbled the Honda Senior grid. Garry Meikle (7TDB) led in the early part of the extremely wet final but Paul Wilkins (7TDB) caught him and Jamie Rose (7TDB) also went through to take second.
Biland engined karts made up the Libre Invitation grid and the question was could the drivers from the two stroke ranks beat those who had come from the four strokes? Well Mansel Smith (Saxon Predator) passed Chris Lamare (Mike) half way through to win and both these drivers have a two stroke background but third spot went to four stroke specialist Paul Wilkins (Trulli) who was not far behind and he was chased by fellow four stroker Liam Clfford (MS).
The next Super Two round is at Llandow at the end of May and the series will be joined by the TKM 4-Strokes.
