Seat position information is available from some manufacturers so that might be a good place to start. You can get seat fitting kits from Tillet and if you have a seat with a flat bottom you only have to worry about the front/rear position.
Once you have the seat fitted it's a case of fine tuning the position to get the weight distribution set to make the chassis work properly.
