Rotax has already died....i agree down clay and the south west there are some strong grids but anywhere else you are struggling. We left the sport this year due to the lack of grids and decent drivers in them it wasnt worth my sons while. We did Super 1 mini max and JAG sat and watched the grid fail didnt help or even talk to any of the parents that were hanging in there and even though the grid went from 16 down to 9 in 2 meetings they never got out of there van and came to talk to anyone..to me they weren't interested.

We looked at other competitions like NKF my son was nearly a second faster than the best in there and travelling to clay or further south for a club round wasnt really worth the expense.

There is no senior grid at super 1 and next year there will be no mini grid and the junior will be slim to non ! So apart from hacking at club level rotax will die. So well done Mr Mills great sales job now you will see teams like Fusion dominate the x30 grid as they do Iame cadet. Honestly did people really expect to buy a motor out of the box and it be as quick as something Ogden or Fusion are running..lol quite funny. We spent a number of years in Iame cadets in Fusion and we know how badly made the Iame kit is and how good and bad performance wise different engines carbs and exhausts are and the same principle has been used by Fusion in x30. Basically buy loads of carbs go through them all and find one or two unusually fast ones...same with the motors same with the bends, exhausts etc...then sell the others and there you go an average driver has exceptiional kit...woosh to the front...as long as your dad has a few million to invest in the time and buying lots of kit your at the front.

Then everyone will complain about the big engines and big teams dominating the sport just like Rotax again. Only thing is with Rotax if you had a good engine it was good for all season or longer and didnt need a re-build, you put it on the kart it went fast. Same with the rotax carb very little maintenance and it was always fast. With x30 you rebuild 2 or 3 times a year, rebuild carbs every weekend and need to dyno them all constantly to make sure they are working correctly....as Ogden said to me at Rowrah his retirement is looking rosey now x30 was so popular....so more money spent at Mills, engine builders, carb builders and teams in the x30 class...so numbers will drop but the business side of the paddock is making more money. After all the only classes that will be succesful are the ones that make the most money.
Real shame to me, we really enjoyed rotax we enjoyed put the engine on and concentrate on the driver and not have to second guess the engine carb exhaust bends etc as to why we werent fast.....I have seen so many cadet dads go to x30 and still scrtaching there heads after 5 months and thousands of pounds as to why they are 3 tenths off the pace...
RIP Rotax.
