I believe its not so much the intake that is the problem, its the spark plug and the ignition lead which short-circuit when water gets inside

What you have to do is remove the spark plug lead, spray WD40 over the white end of the installed spark plug, then spray down the inside ignition lead cap that clips onto the spark plug, clip it back on then give it another liberal spary over the whole lead and spark plug assembly........ we did this on sunday at a very wet buckmore and worked a treat.


as otherwise the water gets in and short circuits the spark plug
