You'll get as many answers on this one as days of the month but even at club level there is usually enough competition to make it hard to cut corners; one race day old (ie about 40 laps) tyres are OK for doing the practise day, always start raceday on new tyres if you want to be at the front. Senior Max engines need review after 6 hours (maybe just a ring) but they can go on and on. Look at the piston through the exhaust port and decide. I would say that after 10 hours an inspection is a must. Strip, rebuild and performance check at reputable sealing agent is £150 + parts + VAT so about the same as a set of tyres. Controversial bit: Rotax engine maintenance is much cheaper than X30
