Just thinking about how much it would save me if my son were banned from competition for a couple of years..

But seriously. You need to be careful over some medicines like asthma inhalers and may have to get a Therapeutic Use Exemption form which, being an FIA initiative, costs a bit. You need to study the very small print in your licence application as the banned drugs change regularly, and you need to know the actual name of your drug not its brand name.

Minefield! I gave up worrying on the basis I was a back of the grid tugger and unlikely to trouble the scorers and testers, plus as I said a couple of years off wouldn't hurt.
