All the tips above are great and what works will very much depend on your child.

One other suggestion, would be driver coaching, basically someone other than you. Not because they'll say anything different but because it'll be someone different saying it!

It doesn't necessarily have to be a paid profesional, it could be another parent or an older racer, your child respects. It has two benefits, another pair of eyes that might spot something you're missing and a different way of communicating the message. Plus for some reason, kids always seem to listen/learn better from someone else.
