It sounds like the battery has had it if it's dropped to 7volts once charged should read 13.2 to 14.4 volts DC if it's not been used or charged for over 6 months the voltage will have dropped to below 4volts DC when this happens on a battery it looses its cell memory & will not hold charge again so it's time for a new battery
