The old style clutches are now exactly that 'old' and will fail at some time sooner rather than later.
When new they were adequate but as wear sets in they begin to fail ever more frequently.
There is no cheap option if you are fitting the new steel typ clutch and you must also replace the nylon balance gears when swithing to the new steel clutch.
The new steel clutch offers no performance advantage over the old one when in its prime but they are way more reliable and almost a fit and forget item when compared with the old organic shoe & spring type plus the steel balance gears never fail like the old nylon ones used to regularly do provided you maintain the gear oil!
If you intend to race MSA buy an original kit as there are some non genuine ones around that the MSA scruits will be only too pleased to exclude you for using.
