If they send you a cheque it may well be from a company. but in any case is most likely a forged cheque.
The way banks work these days is that you would be able to withdraw funds either the same day or within 3/4 days so you send off the goods.
Maybe 6 weeks or so later you will get a letter from your bank to say the cheque has been reported stolen and they will want the money back.
Another variation on this scam is that the cheque will be for more than the selling price and they ask you to send the difference by Western Union or similar to their shipping agent who will arrange collection.
