You've asked that question three times now and if it had come from someone who wasn't driving an agricultural plough, I would have answered it sooner.

But I'll indulge you, seeing as you have to deal with a company like Tal-ko who can't even address a problem that people have moaned about since the year dot, like the throttle stop screw and spring on that APALLING weedwacker carburetor, and various other Dickensian aspects of British Neolithic engineering that the TKM represents!, I mean who, in their right mind comes up with the most butt ugly impractical four stroke like they did

The process of advancement and the way things move in the positive direction of improvement is called progress.

The Rotax max was ( Notice the use of past tense here) a product that filled a hole in the market that seemed to be stopping new blood coming into the sport.

It worked quite well but as is typical of companies when they're on to a good thing, they didn't bother to try and improve things for the customer. (Do you see the TKM connection there).

Crap air box that belonged on Stevenson's Rocket, a carb that couldn't be adjusted on track and looked more at home in a power station, an exhaust made from recycled Trabants and Lancias and a radiator positioned in a prime target area for destruction, £210.00 please, Arkwright's till goes Kerching!!!!

Then the X30 slips in quietly, smuggling itself on board a lorry from the continent. And suddenly the establishment goes totally incontinent.

What's this? Oh it's just another engine, don't worry about it, it'll never catch on.

Whoa!!!, hold up! they're only bloodily getting grids together and racing the bloody things and some are enjoying it and sales are rocketing and what's this? They now can't keep up with demand. (Get your order in now as the waiting list could be more than for a Morgan.)

Quick, let's do something and bring out the EVO and stick on a Lego start switch and paint the head red for good luck, that'll sell it. (Tal-ko gets a fire bucket of sand and they all put their heads in it).

It's quite amusing when you go back and review people's posts on the X30 and their views on its improbable success.

Many have now bolted an X30 on their steed and are enjoying the 'progression' to a motor that although might have a few little niggles, gives a different drivability and a welcome freedom of choice over some components like the air box! radiator! reeds! water pump! You don't now get that sinking feeling when you see a dribble appear from the little hole at the rear of the crankcase and realise you'll have a even bigger hole in you bank balance because of a 50p seal.

The lack of a seal gives them the comfort that an engine can be stripped and checked on the day by the scruts and it also means they can pull the whole damn thing to bits themselves if they so desire. A progression towards equality.

When the manufacturers see A B and C finals, then they know they've got some competition, both on the track and in the market place where it's going to hurt them.

We have PROGRESSED to a beautiful engineered piece of kit that brings a smile to the face of everyone who drives it and is reminiscent of the artistry of the old 100 cc rotary engines that graced the tracks of old.

That was before all and sundry wanted to stifle the sport with rules and regs and steering groups and associations doing this that and the other but ultimately doing sweet FA.
