A few weeks ago I was sitting back thinking about how well the Iame X30 class has taken off this year. Having been involved from the first race at PFI last year, I never thought it would get to where it is so quickly. (I knew the product was good, and i was quite vocal about it. but even I didn't expect to see a Senior class with C finals ever again in the UK MSA racing)
I was looking at the LGM Calendar and noticed the Whilton Mill LGM round was on a non club championship meeting the week after the club meeting on the 31st May. and thought in recognition for the faith the drivers have put into the class and the investment (EVERYONE has had to buy at least 1 brand new motor and swap from another class). It really deserves some form of official recognition.
For me this logical choice was to do an O plate meeting and incorperate this into the LGM X30 race. so the winner of that round wins the o plate.
Reasons i liked it was - Logistically the tracks central - The 5th Weekend Doesn't Clash - The Irish drivers have been there before and x30 has just started there. - It wouldn't matter if the entry was huge as its non championship club round so wouldn't take away from other classes track time if they have to run extra races - Whilton Mill have supported X30 from the start (PFI have kartmasters and Kim have anglian cup etc)
Unfortunately theres "rules" in place that mean the MSA can't allow an O plate to officially take place. I thought this was totally unfair as no one objected to the idea! and everyone deserves some recognition as X30 has in my opinion saved Senior MSA karting in the UK!!
So as i set up the BKDA (British Kart Drivers Association on Facebook) I thought lets put it to good use. Lets make it the LGM tour race with the BKDA 0 Plate incorporated added on! Iv seen how successful F100 is and the way the members all band together to make stuff happen so i though lets do the same!
So i set up a GoFundMe Page (DONATE HERE) http://www.gofundme.com/tw9hqs
Iv been really pleased with the response. We have enough money to buy even bigger trophies than i first wanted there now 20" ones like this: http://www.trophystore.co.uk/chicago-silver-trophy-cup-on-wooden-base-52cm
Whats more the very generous Tony Gilham wants Team-HARD. Racing to give something back after taking Damani Marcano up from karting to cars. He is donating the remaining £40 + 4 Team HARD VIP passes (two for each winner) to come to a Volkswagen Racing Cup race-day – held as part of the BritishGT Championship weekends!
So I just wanted to say Thank you to those that have donated so far, and please continue as the more we get the better the prizes will be! I really want to make the event more special and I'm overwhelmed with the generosity of the people!
I can't guarantee the powers at be will let you run the number 0 on your senior or Junior x30 as they have already said no to me ...... but I think theres an opportunity for the Powers in charge to do something GOOD. to stop saying NO and put a very big smile on some peoples faces.
**You have to be in the LGM X30 Senior Class and LGM X30 Junior Class to win the prizes. this may mean if you have not already you may need to pay the registration fee for the series***
