Well if it's working ok I wouldn't touch it until the end of the day.

The gasket isn't the highest quality and deteriorates if it is constantly squashed and then leaks.

Different oils cause different carboning up of the blade so you have to judge how frequently you need to clean it.

I've seen pv blades so carboned up that they were stuck in the slot completely.

Some oils produce a soft wet carbon, some produce a hard dry carbon.

If you clean it regularly it is easier to remove the carbon by just using brake cleaner and a cloth.
