the problem is they cant just send the loaders home even If you know who they are.....as its an msa meeting you have to work within the msa rules...

...to be fair though If I was the club I would have a get together with concerned drivers, ask who they think are causing the problems and then tell the marshals to keep an extra eye on them out on track....this brings its own issues though because even when you know the kart numbers, trying to spot them in a pack doing 70mph is still blumming difficult

I come from doing 12 years of marshalling all over the uk and Europe, and consider myself to be a pretty good marshal and pretty observant, ive also raced in tkm/prokarts so have a pretty good understanding of what goes on out on track. When ive done driving standards observing, even I find it difficult to spot numbers in a pack, so asking marshals who don't have a lot of experience out on track and don't have the experience/knowledge/ability to spot things quickly and process them, its incredibly difficult to spot what is going out on track.

one of my favourite training sessions as a marshal is incident handling/observing where they play back videos on a large screen of incidents, we often use karting ones because things appear to happen quicker, they are played to the guys and we have to offer our opinions on what the cause was and who caused it. Even some of the most experienced guys often get it wrong....remember you have to be able to spot 1 kart, amongst 20, recognise the number, process it and come to a conclusion in less than a second...and have to make sure you are 100% because if you aren't then you could be penilising the wrong person.

often they show then show a video from the drivers point of view...only then do you get a clear indication of the cause of the incident..what can look like one person causing the accident can actually be another causing it but obscured from your view.

its a damn near impossible task to see who has caused incident, and then make sure you are 100% before reporting it, because if you make a mistake you then suffer the wrath of another karter and their parents....marshals and officials are damned if they do and damned if they don't most of the time

I have often said that karters and their parents should spend a day marshalling at another circuit to keep their licence and/or gain extra championship points...it was done in caterham racing a few years back and worked really well. it gave drivers a completely new perspective on marshalling and how a meeting is run, and also how difficult it is to spot the causes of incidents.
