Do recognise that the book, while good for concept, was written in 1973.

So page 5 states "For convenience, we use just the mean piston speed and the safe limit for that, for
engines having bore-stroke dimensions within the range considered normal for
motorcycles, is about 4000 feet per minute. "

The X30 for example has a mean piston speed at 16000 rpm of 5646 fps, about 50% above what was regarded as 'safe' in the 70's.

And, of course, although one can make our engines go faster, in many cases it makes them illegal to race depending on which set of rules you are working under. (even IKR have rules!)
