I don't agree that it's a bad idea.
Admittedly I'd prefer to see it linked to kart brake lights.

Two of the biggest abuses are loading at the start and Contact on the kart in front and this will stop both.

Racing incidents are usually side to side and the bumper will be immune.
High Kerbs will be a problem, but that's within driver control - stay off high curbs.
Loading is Loading whether it is one or many drivers and the new nose will deal with this. The problem at present is that you are able to continue to load for some time during the start and the new nose will stop this as it will dislodge immediately and drivers will soon learn not to load.
Take a look at most cadet grids and you'll see two types of noses, pristine ones and ones that look as if they've been at the Somme. Drivers with pristine noses are the ones driving cleanly and will be unaffected by the new nose.
There are far more drivers prepared to dive up the inside when there's no hope of making a manoeuvre stick or, being unable to pass, willing to stick in a little nudge at the braking point or just use another kart as the brake. This will cure that attitude as the nose will dislodge. Answer: learn to drive properly.

As for early braking - stick on brake lights. They're available for about £40.

But, I agree on one matter - An attitude that "Contact is Condoned" is down to the Club - from using Marshalls that are not properly trained, the Observers that don't like writing up reports, to Clersk that treat most things as Racing Incidents when there's no justification to that, to Drivers Dads who kick off shouting and screaming in the pits and who are not sanctioned for it. (Personally I'd like to see any Dad who tackles/screams at a driver or their family rather than going to the Clerks, automatically facing a 3 race ban because the attitude starts with Cadets who are sloppy being protected by aggressive Dads).
