Chris, What you say makes a lot of sense and is simply put. It doesn't need to be complicated and can be summarised as;
Entry qualification = megabucks
megabucks = very limited sample of drivers to find top pure raw talent
Truth of the above is top pure raw talent will never rise to F1 as the sample is so small.
Do F1 really want outright top talent or are they businesses whom will never really support poor talent and sampling from the rich is good enough for them?
Do F1 have scouts bumming about the clubbie events drinking out of grubby coffee cups to spot real talent and pick them up for a bit of support or at least a check out / trial - similar to football scouts - I think not; they only look at KF as the bottom level of sampling if they go that low to karting without spending a load of time in cars.
Comments from the close race between Hamilton and Rosberg recently where H won only just with loads of changes of lead, referred to racing was not that close since they raced in karts together and the racing moves were similar to karts, so why bother sampling from cars when talent can be taken straight from karts???
FKS is a very shallow money making scheme if there is any form of suggestion it's a short cut to F1.
Chris you summed it up - why would F1 want a driver from a very small championship which samples from driver's whom entry qualification is they have £35K to waste? It's the following £9,965,000 they would want to get there and then the £10M for the drive.
I have no time for F1 pay drivers. Martin Brundle commented at the Autosport show in some detail that he was very worried about the increase an pay drivers and F1 should keep a lid on the them if F1 weren't to become a mockery.
The motto is stick to the level of karting your financially happy with; another wise post on this was 'lad and teams get to a point where the lad's talent outstrips the dad's budget and they either stay levelled out in club racing or quit' we opted for the latter and we still really miss karting but can't see the point in wasting money on it.
