You are right about the efforts made at Buckmore to improve facilities etc
I think the main difference between a normal club meeting and one like last weekend's is that the standard is actually a lot closer covering a larger amount of drivers.
The net result is a lot of racing in very close proximity. I personally think a lot of the driving was incredibly good - a few of the juniors and seniors racing on Sunday are among the best on the planet. (Let's not fall into the trap of thinking most S1 drivers are just those with pots of money - we should be more proud of the proven standard of drivers we consistently produce in British karting).
I would not dispute that there was a more highly-charged competitive atmosphere. And that was inevitable - the season is just getting going, Super One kicks off soon and that would be the same for any sport in similar circumstances.
As for taking the bodywork off. Not sure I agree - would removing seatbelts make people drive their road cars more safely? Would taking away safety features in general be sensible?
I know what you are saying but not sure making things less safe in an attempt to regulate behaviour is a good idea.
It's strange ... I actually feel S1 starts, though much faster, are safer as the karts do tend to be more spread out on the start/finish line.
For what it is worth - I also think qualifying helps as well.
