Just to make clear ... I have no axe to grind, we were not directly affected by yesterday's events at Buckmore, we actually did well and the people at the track have clearly made a lot of effort to improve the whole circuit.

But the frequency of accidents during racing yesterday that required the ambulance to appear - and the ferocity of those accidents really was worrying.

As far as I know, no-one had serious injuries at the end of the day but I really think that was more down to luck.

Because it was essentially a warm-up for Rotax Super One the grids were large, the racing was very competitive and in terms of lap times there wasn't much between the drivers.

On a tight track like Buckmore - and with a first corner that hugely penalises the outside of the grid you could almost predict there would be trouble. And there was.

I am not squeamish, we have been doing this for years in S1, all over the country and Europe but I was actually glad to get out of there with son and kart intact.

I don't know what others think but the starts especially were not comfortable to watch and some of the impacts were huge. Two accidents particularly spring to mind in Junior Max and Minis at the first corner.

Starts that are faster and more spread out might have been the answer, rather than the slower more tightly packed ones that seemed to be what the officials wanted yesterday.

Who knows? .. But I for one am not looking forward to Super One there in May. And I don't like saying that because I don't want to be negative about a historic track that looks great fun to drive.

Interested to know what others thought ...
