Evening all.

I am new to karting after spending many years on jetski's decided to get my need for speed on land and so invested in a 2nd hand kart.

The chassis isn't great but solid and straight, I have a massive box of spares, I had 2x 160 RPM tuned engines on it, and spent quite some time at Teesside getting around the track at some sensible times.

Instead of entering a race at the back end of last year, I decided to come and watch mainly because no one tells you anything. I had no idea what time to arrive, how much it is, how you qualify, how the grid is laid out for the start of the race, is it standing start or rolling.... (you get the jist), so wanted to come and sus it out.

On the day I met some great people who were all willing to share knowledge once asked, but it was very apparent that the guys winning the races, race after race were the ones with kitted out vans with snap on tools, generators, compressors, and noticeably faster karts.

I gave up the idea of competing at that point, because what is the point in going out and getting your ar$e handed to you on a plate every race because you haven't ploughed 1000's into it and your wallet doesn't allow you to be competitive.

After finding out about the integration of sealed 200's I sold my 160's and let my credit card take a bruising buying some 200's today. My chassis is still old, my racing history is still limited, but at least I know I will go out there racing to the best of my ability and if I still get my ar$e handed to me on a plate each race, its because I need practise and not because my wallet isn't big enough.

From an outsider coming in to this, I don't think I would be racing this year had it not happened because as a newbie it seems like a rich mans race and not a talented drivers race.

Im looking forward to meeting you all over the coming months this year, and hopefully I will be competitive, but if not, i'll be having fun trying knowing im on a level playing field.
