I see quite a lot of 'tricky' tyres and the most common fault I have found is poor use of tyre tongs.

It is very easy to bend the bead wires themselves particularly when you are in a hurry, with the result that the tyres are difficult to seal afterwards. Only a little bend is necessary to lift the seal above the seat and the bend will usually pull the tyre wall away from the rim wall too.

Tyre tongs are very useful tools, but if they stick in the wide open position just before the tyre pops on, simply forcing them further can cause problems.

Use lots of tyre soap and lubricate the tong surfaces as well.
