Karting is changing.
Probably for the better actually eventually.

The clubs who will come out on top are the ones who offer best value for money, a good time, and the least barriers to entry for what people want.

Kartings been stale for a while, people want a bit of excitement again.

Read into that how you want. theres a bit of buzz about a few things recently.

Older 100cc DD motors. (people are digging out old videos from the 1990's and early 2000's, resorting the karts etc.

manufactures like CRG testing out the Sudam concept and ENJOYING the driving experience.

X30 which people think is fun to drive and offers you push button start.

and LGM Cadet series having 90 entries, based on simple 2 day meeting with no friday practise incorporated into a club meeting.

You also see things like the inter clubs 177 series wipe out the entries in S1 177.

Take 2 steps back and have a look from the outside. for too long karters have been mugged off without a say, and just handed over more and more money with out protest to people with vested interests.

If your an outsider you would laugh at some of the regulations brought in. or understands that things like number plate colours are not owned by the MSA, or it doesn't matter if you have an old style air box in rotax max.

Ask yourself why does a parent need a license, and why do you have to pay a fine if you forget your licence for the first time even tough they know you have one and can look it up with a quick SMS message.

We are not a stepping stone to formula one! were not here for others to make a career out of motorsport, as lets be honest only a handful get paid to drive. and even then the amount it costs someone else to get them there is huge, and if you add up the cost to get there vs earnings taken....if it was solely funded by the driver over their career they would probably be bankrupt.

So start looking after the ones that want to get there kart out and have a race at the weekends.

Its what used to happen. :-)
