and if anything it's always cost me money overall!
I make no pretence that Ian Mulliner isn't a friend of mine, but that's a friendship that's grown out me booking a hotel for him coming to race a British Championship at Wombwell many years ago long before Atol or control fuel was a thought! (mind you it was one of the grottiest pubs in Sheffield and I'm surprised he even talked to me after that lol)
From that friendship I have seen the way Ian sets about his business and the perfection he strives for. From that friendship I know the real costs involved in supplying karting and know that the service he supplies for the cost he does it would be hard to beat and I know that part of the reason he does it at this relatively low cost is because he's a karter at heart!
I also know because of our friendship that he's turned down on several occasions more lucrative contracts to keep supplying karting because he believes what I do that karting needs control fuel and testing at this level to keep the cheats at bay and any compromise from this will open the possibility of fuel cheats!
I stick up for Atol because I believe they receive unfair criticism here!
If you notice I also stick up for JAG and Rotax because I believe on the whole they do it right too and oddly enough because of their attitude to the sport I consider John and Jean friends too, but once again it's because I believe in what they do and their morals to karting that I support them against unfair criticism on the Notice Board.
My involvement in the sport has been purely for enjoyment and I don't intend to change that anytime in the future because the second you make money out of the sport I think it changes your attitude towards it!
To summarise, I support Atol and what they do because it's right, no other reason!
