It's funny how perception is often different from reality.

Last year, it was generally Alonso who was throwing it off the circuit during overtaking moves. Hamilton's three most visible mistakes were Nurburgring, China(?) and Brazil. Both Nurburgring and China were silly errors (ie, simply falling off, as seen at Spa this year). Brazil he through it off trying to pass Raikkonen, but he'd clearly lost his cool at that point (in some ways reminiscent of Schumacher). In fact, Itpro regularly defended Alonso, stating many of Lewis' moves could have had the same outcome.

This year, apart from the Spa/Raikkonen/Chicane incident, I can't recall Hamilton throwing it off when passing at all (and he didn't really throw it off then). I don't think Hamilton has been "lucky" with his passing moves. Throughout his career he's shown an ability to pass people almost at will. I have a feeling he'll be pretty similar to Schumacher; learn which drivers will give the inch and which won't. Remember, Schumacher never had a serious crash with another car (or at least, never came off worse). In fact, up until Melbourne 2000ish he'd never rolled a car, and never rolled one thereafter.

Looking at the relative performances of Massa and Raikkonen, one can only conclude that Alonso and Hamilton are at the top. Wouldn't it be great to have Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Kubica, Massa and Raikkonen in top cars? Wouldn't it also be great to have four cars fighting for the title?

Perhaps the FIA should leave the rules exactly as they are and let things even up more. This year is the closest ever, in time, from front to back afterall.
