I'm with you Chris on the 'entertaining' overtaking but so many of them have been last second 'dives'.

The one piece of advice I give ALL racers in karting is 'don't overtake from too far back'! By that I mean, even if you CAN brake 20 yards later than the man in front, DON'T overtake then!

Why?

Beacsue at that speed differental, all the idiot ahead has to do is to swerve just a FRCATION and the following kart, committed to a FAST entry, is guaranteed to make an interesting and high-speed contact! Better to catch the 20 yards and then overtake on the NEXT corner! Yes, that is NOT the FASTEST way BUT it will HUGELY increase you cahance of finishing EVERY race rather than 9 out of 10! The demon-last-second-braking-accident in karting hurts....... but not as much as in Formula 1!

This is a lesson I learnt the HARD way in endurance racing! It was EASY to be vastly faster than some teams and seriously tempting to bundle past those who were much slower. However, over a 3, 6, 12, 24 hours race, you can just about guarantee that such manouevre would wipe the stub off in the ensuing accident! It wasn't worth the gain in the long run. And that's my point about Lewis.
