Ok, I wondered how long before video raised it's head!
I have watched a lot of video footage over the years and on the whole I do not find it as helpful as you'd at 1st think (me included), an opinion shared with many of the top car CoC's who have footage available to them. In football and tennis where you have a fixed line and are judging ins and outs video is perfect, however if you are judging fast moving incidents on a kart circuit it's far from as good or useful. Before you disagree with me go and have a look at any Kart video footage you can find on the net and see if you can tell for definite who was at fault. Watch a dozen incidents and tell me who was to blame from the footage! Or ask Buckmore if you can watch their installed system and see if you can spot any culprits. After 15 mins of watching their cctv screens look out the picture window and tell me by watching which are you more likely to catch poor driving!
I suspect all that will happen if circuits do fit cctv, everyone will have even greater expectations as to how many drivers the CoC should bring to book and will be even more disappointed when it doesn't happen!
Andrew Fairley told be of a system used in Ireland that he said was excellent, I've not managed to track it down, but he says it was exceedingly expensive!
Many have banged the drum for video footage, especially John Clucas, but non when asked have set up an trial for us all to agree it's as good as they proclaim it is! Oddly enough we're still waiting for the theorists to still prove their point and I reckong hell is starting to freeze over after all!
