Tyres have a Fixed price set by the ABkc.
Bridgestone are: Bridgestone YDK Price: £120.00 (Excluding VAT at 17.5%) Bridgestone YDS Price: £89.00 (Excluding VAT at 17.5%)
Dunlops Are : Honda Prokart slicks Dunlop SL1 £88.22 (Excluding VAT at 17.5%) Honda Prokart wets Dunlop KT3 £108.10 (Excluding VAT at 17.5%)
the only bad news is Bridgestone prices will go up> Exceptionally, due to massive unforeseen increases in fuel and carriage as well as currency exchange rates, the ABkC have agreed that the Bridgestone tyre prices may be increased from 19 August. Zip only increased the tyre prices by £2 on 1 January, when they could have requested a 5% increase. Therefore the ABkC have agreed to allow the remainder of the 5% annually permitted increase to take effect from 19 August. Revised prices are on the ABkC website.
Both tyres have and will do a 24 hr race, but one tyre costs more.
PFI Sprints meeting as most of the U.K. other prokart grids use to use Dunlop SL1,s, but over 5 years go it changed to the Bridgestone tyre because PFI had a very good endurance racing on the 2nd weekend and quite a few drivers in the endurance racing wanted to do both weekends racing, but " Two sets of tyres, problem like Mark said..... loads of tyres.
The way forward is like many other tracks, let both sets of tyres be used.
Even a small track like Red Lodge in the Regs like Warden Law say :
"10. Tyres
The following tyres are permitted:
Slicks Dunlop SL1 or Bridgestone YDS
Wets Dunlop KT3 or Bridgestone YDK
No tyre softeners or warmers of any type permitted. "
Its just food for thought, let drivers use both tyres and let the grids grow and even let new drivers come for a blast around PFI...... we all came to PFI once for the 1st time
I Did.
Have a think about it, Test. Think again...
As PFI is a low grip track Dunlops will be running again in the 50,sec to 51, sec laps.
All good fun,
Cheers Trev
Even F6 have the same Good rule in place for Snr Honda.
F6 Senior Twin : Dunlop SL1 or Bridgestone YDS
I did not know it was so wide spread across the U.K. now.
