Yep, I'm sure some lessons can be learned......late last summer my 6 year old lad in his bambino came into the pits at bayford, only its 2nd or 3rd time in a kart.......there was a parent inside the fenced off pit entrance with her back to the pit entry, with her daughter in there having a good old chat......my 6 year old son came in the pits a bit too fast and swept the parent and kid clean off their feet, they all went over like a sack of spuds.....just a little bambino went through them......I dont think they will be chatting there again......I put it down to collective-stupidity.....both my son was driving too fast, and the parent should not have been in the fenced off pit area chatting with her back to the entrance.
I think this fatality is a similar incident.....people not paying attention, and in the wrong place at the wrong time......just goes to show how much we need to respect karting, or it will bite you hard.
