I am a cheapskate so still think TKM karting is very good value for money. So if you have a bad weekend you can find yourself asking whether the expense is worth it.
However, having said that, in terms of sociability it wins hands down. We have made loads of good friends this year, perhaps due to the fact that car racing is less frenetic.
The camaraderie is like karting used to be 20 years ago. We lend each other gearboxes, engines , anything you need. If you need major work doing, including engine changes, everybody mucks in. Guys who have written cars off have had rolling shells donated to get them back on the road.
There is quite a range of driving ability so there is always someone your pace to race with and as there is always timed qualifying you are always alongside guys of similar ability on the grid. The front running guys don't punt the novices off and there is no loading!
If you are staying at the circuit over the weekend there is always someone to share a beer with.
The other thing is you can get quite passionate about your car which you can't really do with a kart. It becomes a way of life.
