Alonso doesn't rate Vettel in the same way he has rated Hamilton as a good driver in the past. Obviously he has already raced Hamilton in the same team and they were equal, both on points and on race wins. If he doesn't rate Vettel being as good as Hamilton then you can see why he fancies his chances being in the same team.
One thing to point out, if Christian Horner wanted to get his own back on Vettel for what he did earlier this year (ignoring team orders) he could well sign Alonso to show Vettel who is boss. It shouldn't happen, but when someone is made to look like a fool in front of the world then you can see why that person might want to get their own back.
Chris.
