Modelsport at Otley always have quite a few HPI 5th scale in stock and they are advertising them at around Ł200 under list price. Maybe if you go in and have a chat they might go lower?
Maybe you are wanting it for fun or one make racing but if you are looking at BRCA racing have you considered full race chassis' such as Contrast, HARM, Hoermann or MCD instead? Second hand you can probably get a full set up for less than the price of a new HPI.
