I think you may have missed the point slightly. These are bespoke items that have no use after they are made.

If I did work for people without details I would risk spending time and money on labour and materials with a chance of the job being cancelled. I know for a fact this would happen more than you might think.

The terms are not just based around a lack of trust. As our work is mainly mail order it allows us to produce work quickly and efficiently.

I disagree totally that the customer knows less than we know about the customer. From our website every potential customer has access to our address, company details and comprehensive details on the product they are buying.

Not only that but they also have the fall back of the terms and conditions that every buyer has when ordering goods from a company like us. If the goods are not fit for purpose they are entitled to a full refund or replacement.

Do you really think the law allows you to take payment for a banner that you make from a lower spec material than stated or that you don't make at all? The law is so on the customers side it's almost scary. I once produced a banner for a woman who refused to sign for the delivery because she claimed the banner was late! I even had evidence that she refused it on the same day she requested it. She then managed to reverse the card transaction in full without any issue and I was returned the banner by royal mail which was obviously no use to us. Is that fair?
