Back in the real world of limited resources, it has been decided that the police force are better off solving serious crime (or completing paper work) than patrolling our roads looking for "bad drivers".
Much better to use speed cameras to control speeds and limit the seriousness of the consequences of bad driving(ers) in my opinion. Quite how the automated "policing" of a pretty straightforward law is "fleecing" the motorist I'm not sure. As it stands, you're largely left to your own devices, only having to keep your speed below the legal limit.
By the way, your last post in the other thread clearly states that we do need speed limits and your only issue seems to be what they are, where they are and when they're in force. Remember, we already have variable limits around many schools and on motorways.
