I recall this discussion occuring previously. Your (Itpro) position is a reasonable one, but your expectation that others should think similarly is misplaced.
If we were discussing speed cameras, speeding and road safety, and you were making your arguments regarding "choosing laws", "speed does kill" etc, then asserting that your argument is more correct has a measure of validity. However, in the case of the TT, you have no basis on which to claim any form of high ground.
A question such as "is it acceptable for TT riders to die at a rate of X per year" is an emotive one. It is perfectly valid for me to say that Galdiatorial combat should be banned but the TT should not, or vice versa. Essentially, someones opinion on such subjects comes down to:
1) What is an acceptable death rate for a given activity when compared to:
2) The benefit (enjoyment, wealth generation, social cohesion etc etc) I have from undertaking that activity.
The subject is emotive. It cannot be analysed in the way you are so doing. What is your position with regards to equestrian, or gun clubs, or fox hunting, or skiing, or driving on the roads, or cycling? Should any of these be banned or have their bans/restrictions lifted?
Your expectation that people should find the TT unacceptable is no different to my assertion that equestrian is too dangerous and should be banned.
