yeh nice try Ian, but your not goading me into this argument. No point discussing this with someone even more stubborn than myself so I will answer your question and then leave you to argue with yourself!
If gladiatorial combat was a once yearly event where all competitors knew the risks of fighting, and I just happened to be a huge fighting fan, and the event was as spectacular as the TT, if one gladiator every year accidently slipped whilst attempting a particularly tricky move and fell on his own sword and was seriously injured / died, and I was there to watch the spectacle and hopefully NOT witness the poor individual who has that accident, then yes, I think I probably would still go and watch it. As you've been comparing the two for so long, we might aswell make them COMPLETE comparisons, and I can't see any reason why I wouldn't still go to watch these spectacular events, and i'd probably say the same about the Red Bull Air race, X Fighters or any form of Motorsport that were just as dangerous. They are spectacular, they are incredible and they all push the limit of what is humanly possible, which unfortunately comes with a certain risk. Is that risk worth it, in my eyes (and most other peoples) YES!
