Excuse my ignorance but I don't know what W.A.S.P. means so can't agree or disagree with what you say.

As for the apology to Newshound. You wrote:-

If he had written this then I would not have replied as I did. Because as you point out I would be wrong. But that is YOUR interpretation of what he meant. What he wrote was this:-

`Paki` is clearly a shortening of the country `Pakistan`......so where on earth is the difference in my being called a `Brit`? or an Australian being called an `Aussie`?.....Racism is racism surely, but no one would ever even CONSIDER complaining about the second two examples...

As I see it, you took this to mean 'Paki' CAN sometimes be as offensive as 'Brit' and I took it to mean 'Paki' IS always as offensive as 'Brit'

why I think your interpretation is incorrect is:-
1) I am suspicious that your interpretation is the same as your argument. But this doesn't really mean much.
2) If he meant what you say then he would have likely noticed my poor interpretation and pointed out what he actually meant. Again this is not in any way a given so also doesn't mean much.
3) If he meant what you say he would have to understand your argument about it being relevant to context. (The simple way to show they are not the same). If he did understand this then the second part of his statement makes no sense. If he understood that it is dependent on context, then he would understand that someone at some time could complain about the two examples.

However, I don't know why he waited for you to defend what he said. I'm saying what I think he meant and you are saying what you think he meant. Why isn't he telling me what he actually meant? Than I would be in a position to read it again and decide if my interpretation was unreasonable, and apologise. Or decide regardless of what he meant, my interpretation of what he actually wrote was reasonable, and not apologise.
