We did the same, roads in the morning were completely clear but we stayed in the field for half an hour until the chaos had calmed down after the racing.

Grandstands were mainly empty all day though, not sure if it's the lack of Rossi fever, or because the MotoGP fans are all used to the banks at Donington and didn't think to buy grandstand seats.

If your talking about the steel buildings near Abbey, they will be the new pitlane I believe from next year onwards. (Similar to the buildings that have been built for the changed Stowe circuit)
