Ian what i'm trying to say is that it's irrelevant what I, or indeed anyone other outsider, would like from the sport. It's the COMPETITORS that matter, and if they are happy to continue, knowing full well the dangers they are faced with, then who am I to try and stop them.
Indeed if F1 drivers decided they wanted to go back and race on an entire grid of Lotus 49's, even though it would mean returning to the old death rate, then who am I to stop them. They would certainly command my respect for doing it. It's not that I wouldnt care that some of them could DIE, but if the guys who race are happy to compete with that danger then so be it, why should I try and save them from themselves?
As Newshound says, sanitising the TT would take away the essence of the incredible test of man and machine that it currently is, just as sanitising F1 has made it less skillful, reduced driving standards and made it incredibly difficult for spectators and fans (who should also me made aware of the dangers of spectating) to get close to the action.
