Yeah certainly, I've got out of many tricky situations due to being able to control the car.

But being a safe driver to an insurer would have the common sense to be driving well within the limits and thus never loose control of the car. For instance my gran has never slid the car in any weather condition in the last 4 years. On the other hand I have on many occasions and not always on purpose!

Just because you can handle situations on a nice wide race track with run offs safe grass to drive across etc doesnt mean you can handle all these situations within the confines of a lane barely wider than your car.

I had the exact same opinion as you at 17 but with experience you'll learn that the most important thing for a driver to have is the ability to judge all the possible dangers ahead even if there unlikely.

Not having ago its just not a valid opinion to have as the road is not the same as a race track at all.
