I use a Mac and I'm a bell end...
I've been using Macs for 3 years and love it. Their user interface is more straightforward and logical, plus they reserve system resources for each piece of running software, so if one grinds to a halt, the rest carry on.
Macs are expensive compared to the cheaper PC makes, but I find it worth it for the productivity gains.
Netbooks are small laptops running lower powered hardware. They are aimed at browsing the web and similar light duties. If you are using the computer for long periods of time, or for something heavier duty, you may find them cramped and underpowered. They have their use, but try one in a shop to see if it will be up to the tasks you need it for.
If you are considering a Mac, contact your nearest Apple Store ( http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/ ). They will do a one hour personal shop that guides you through the range and how the operating system works.
