Far from confused Ian, nor blinded by a obvious dislike or favouring of any particular driver be them British, Spanish, German, Brazilian, French etc...!

I have to confess that I negated the 'facts' because (being honest) I forgot! Thanks for putting me straight on that point.

Thank you for also proving MY point that Fernando CHEATED!!! While watching the YouTube video you posted I counted ~10 seconds between the lollipop being rased and Fernando leaving the pits! Whether or not this optimised Fernando's exit time (aside from preventing 'The Golden Boy' from undertaking a further run!) is accademic, unless you have some proof to back up your claim?!

What Lewis did was WRONG, but in no way did it jeapordise Fernando's position on the grid (did it?), his race result OR his championship position and therefore cannot be rendered CHEATING! (Reference earlier postings for Senna and Prost for retaliation).

Fernando's actions DID affect Lewis' qualifying position and thus had the potential to (and DID initially, before the stewards intervened) jeapordise his qualifying and therefore COULD have had a detromental effect upon his race and subesequently his championship position. The fact Lewis ended up winning the race is beside the point. Fernando DELIBERATELLY CHEATED by doing something that jeapordised Lewis' qualifying position!

THAT from a sporting point of view IS on par with MS parking to prevent others from others undertaking their final qually run.

To quote YOU:

"Michael's straight CHEATING (ramming Hill, ramming Villeneuve, **** parking in Monaco **** etc., etc.,) are NOT things I would have done so I CAN feel 'holier than thou' enough to call HIM a cheat!"

So you see Michael parking in Monaco as 'straight CHEATING', but its 'OK' when Fernando does it in Hungry? I struggle to see why! Is it because Michael prevented MORE people from undertaking a final run than Fernando? Does retaliation make it alright to scupper someones chances in qulifying? or is it just because it was Lewis that he blocked, and you dont like him? For someone who (quite rightly) constantly bangs on about consistancy, I am at a loss with these comments!

Why were Lewis' abilities to beat Kimi 'moot'? If they were then on that basis why7 were Fernandos not?! Kimi was the OUTSIDER between himself, Lewis AND Fernando going into the FINAL race of the season! They went into the race 1. Lewis, 2. Fernando, 3. Kimi and came out of the race 1. Kimi, 2. Lewis tied with Fernando. Kimi surpassed BOTH of them! So why were Lewis' 'moot' and Fernando's not? In my opinion Mclaren successfully threw away the championship that year!

To quote from Fernando himself (Autosport TODAY):

"At the time McLaren and Ferrari were fighting each other and it was very close. In the end I think we had the better car but we finished second and third. Unfortunately we did something wrong."

What that 'wrong' is, again is purely accedemic from our perspective. My view is this was due to a distinct unpleasent rivalry within the team because Fernando was not delegated No. 1 status, was less than pleased that Lewis (a rookie) was actually BEATING him (the reigning Champion) and that resulted in a rift between Lewis/Mclaren and Fernando. Yes Mclaren favoured Lewis. 1: Fernando made it VERY easy for them to throw their eggs into one basket by acting like a spoilt brat 2: It was Lewis LEADING the championship (from the second race if I remember correctly, before the 'favouritism' kicked in) and 3: It was Lewis who they had invested in for so many years, 3a: They could see that he had the ability to beat the man who many consider the best in the world in his rookie year, given how young he was (and still is!) and how much they had invested to get him there they would not have wanted to lose him to another team!

Lewis and Fernando spent far too much time fist fighting each other and towards the end of the season BOTH made mistakes. Lewis fell off the road in the pitlane, Fernando buried it in the barrier (BOTH mistakes in the wet) and whatever happened at Brazil, I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry (because a Ferrari won... NOT because Lewis lost it).

From what I gather your view is clearly that Lewis was a useless idiot and that Fernando was SO hard done by that he ended up losing to the red car. Should I get the violins out?

Regarding "Anyway.... the 'common view' is that Michael; and FIAt are the two 'greats'. How strange that Fenando THRASHED them BOTH in a R*E*N*A*U*L*T when the other two were at their 'Peak'..... or should I say 'Pique'.... T*W*I*C*E?"

I totally agree, but cant see what relevance it has to replying to my original posting! Fernando IS a FANTASTIC driver. He Is also prepaired to CHEAT. He is now with a team who are prepaired to do 'whatever it takes' (CHEAT!) to win... Ring bells of anyone who has recently re-entered the sport? If the boot fits?!
