Asbestos is not actually banned for brake pads or shoes. One of the dangers of cheap Chinese lookalike imports is that they do not control what they use in the manufacture of their pads or shoes and neither does the Chinese government. The fine dust is NOT filtered out by nasal hair or the mucus in the throat and nose The body is unable to rid itself of asbestos as nothing in the body can break down the particles and it will cause an iritation that leads to asbestosis. It is one of those things that may or may not happen unfortunately. Asbestos is safe when contained.
