I completely agree about the issue of overpopulation. There's actually slightly more to it than that though.

o Man is living longer.
o Man is propagating exponentially.
o Man is improving his standard of living.

Man is consuming vastly more natural resources in order to support all of the above.

IF all three of these things continue unabated, then man does face problems. As man's dependency on resources increases and they become less abundant, it doesn't take a scientist to work out what would happen.

But this is a problem of consumption and a completely different issue to global temperature changes, rising sea levels of the survival/extinction of species of insects.

However, if you subscribe to this 'resource' view on things, then you do not need to be so fearful. The common denominator across all peoples on this earth is economics - the forces of supply and demand. As things become scarce, they become more expensive and people find other ways of doing things. Its a form of natural self balancing.

And what of the population growth ? Well if people are incentivized to have less rather than more children, then they will do that. In most parts of the world today [particularly developing countries] people are incentivized the other way though.

So instead of scaring people into thinking they're destroying the planet, it may be better to allow market forces to take a greater influence on people's behaviour.
