Chris, its actually the French and their fans I feel for. Several close French friends of mine who live in Paris e-mailed me in the days after this and said they felt disgusted at what happened. They said it will cast a shadow over anything France achieves in South Africa. It seems that much of the French media also concords with that sentiment. That's not right, but that's the kind of thing you can expect to get when you cheat.

Chris, if you're happy to condone cheating as an acceptable way of going about sport, and life in general, then fair enough. I and most other people have a different way of looking at things.

As for Ireland, they're out, its done and that's that. I'll now be getting behind England for South Africa 2010 and hope that they can go all the way for the first time since 1966.
