Hi there

Having been a student at Brooklands College in the past doing a national Diploma in Motorsport Engineering i can say it is an extremely good place to receive an education. They recently finished a new engineering building, equipped with a lot of new machinery for students and lecturers to use.

When i was there the lessons had a good mix of both theory and practical lessons. Im not sure how the foundation degree will differ to what i did but if there is something you want some knowledge on or experience of using you can speak to the lecturers or lab technicians and they will help you out as much as possible.

For the last two years i have been doing a Beng in otorsport Engineering at a university you dont seem to have on your list - Coventry University.
Im going to be honest about this course. It is extremely hard. You really do need to turn up for all lectures because the amount of information you receive in each lecture is invaluable. After reading Chris' post i have to say you will be learning almost the same stuff as you do at Brookes. And like Chris was saying, there is a very difficult mathematics/science course involved which unless you pay attention to and unfortunately do some extra studying you will struggle at unless you are a Science wizz.

Unfortunately the course is very theory based initially. There are a number of lab sessions and workshop opportunities throughout the year tho so you can put the knowledge you have gained into use

Like Brookes we participate in the Formula Student scheme and if you are looking to get involved you need to get in there early because places get booked up quickly

We also are involved in the Universty Karting Challenge and are always looking for quick members. There are a number of tryouts for participents so theres no pressure to make it to the first one of the year

If there is any other questions you may have dont hesitate to ask them. It can be very daunting choosing the right University. Trust me i got stressed up about it a lot
