Saddened to hear of Tom Wheatcroft's passing on Saturday.
His vision provided me with many hours of enjoyment and I feel privileged to have been present for the re-opening of such a historic venue in '77. Donington was also the first venue I took my lad and it's now a valued part of my own memories.
Silverstone will always be the home of F1 for me but it's really sad that the current leasholders at Donington Park let such a great enthusiast down in the bid to bring the F1 GP back to Donington and left it the semblance of a building site.
Condolences to his family. A great loss to motorsport.
