Avago - I also refer to the 2000 stats which are almost identical. I can't be held responsible for DFT not publishing later figures.

Tangler that is EXACTLY what they mean. Note that the AVERAGE speed on motorways is 70 mph, and, as you might expect about half are exceeding the limit, and half not. Look at the spreadsheet - again it says AVERAGE speed. And listen to itpro - who would say vastly more than 13% are speeding in his village.

In our village the figure IS about 13% - and that is considered exceptionally low by the police and highways authority. But as I have said before it is very low in our village because parked cars make exceeding the limit very difficult.

Like I say if the figures are ANYTHING LIKE correct you are forced to the conclusion that speeding motorists have less accidents that those that don't.

There is just no way of getting around those figures.
