Gents, accidents are exactly that - accidents - "An unexpected and undesirable event, especially one resulting in damage or harm". They are often blamed on human error, or mechanical failure, or some other single cause but there isn't just one cause, there are always more. More importantly, accidents invariably take split second timing to occur - e.g. a half second sooner or later, most accidents would not happen and would become a 'near miss' (should that not be near hit?) and it has been postulated that it is down to sheer luck whether the accident occurs or not. If we accept that then we could say that going slower the accident would not occur but then could we not argue that going even faster, the accident would not occur? Speed itself does not kill or injure, it is a factor in an accident along with other factors.
