Oh my god...... why don't you guys ever educate yourselves and not just get your 'facts' from Films or TV?

In most gladiatorial combats, there WERE no deaths. Gladiators were professional, expensive to train and there was a limited number of them. No one could afford to have one killed EVERY fight! In many ways, they were like highly paid footballers of today. Deaths were RARE! How do we know? The literature of the time AND because the graves of many gladiators have been found and they had large numbers of HEALED, potentially lethal, injury marks. From the bone-scars, it's blatant that they DID NOT DIE if they were seriously injured..... which would have occurred to those injured gladiators if it were a fight to the death! These guys fought and LOST many battles without dying!

So..... to demonstrate how daft your argument is, I will do what YOU **should** have done, and replaced the concept of 'TT racer' with 'Gladiator' and see if your argument still holds. If it does..... Do I need to explain further?

Here we go:-

'I am sorry but you do NOT understand the Gladiators one little bit. It is about pushing yourself to the very limit. They do it not because it is easy but because it is hard.

If you continue to subscribe to your view that Gladiatorial fans delight in the death of Gladiators you are deluded. Gladiatorial fans enjoy it because it is the most demanding sport in the world."

Can you find ONE fault with your modified paragraphs.....? As if!

Ride your damned bike if you want to: just check your FACTS before you do. You are 42 TIMES more likely to die on your bike than you would be in a car. Note, that's not 42%! If you want it in percentages, it's 4,200% more likely to die. Do you want the figure for injuries, too....?

Ride if you want to: die if you choose. I just don't want others PAYING to watch you die or claiming that 'it was just for fun'.

Even though you are a biker, I care more about your life than YOU do for the lives of the TT racers.

Did you notice that this year's 'score' is up to 1 already....

Man..... that's a 'sport' I really WANT to watch!!

Ian
