It's the Nordschleife 12.9 miles long. If the video timing is correct he does it in 14.04 seconds, an average of 55mph. So not that fast
It's roughly twice as long as the RadicalSR8 (6.48 minutes) in the dry.
For comparison Heidfeld did laps in an F1 car which equate to 'about 6.12' ( "equate" because he had to slow down for publicity shots) while some calculations show him breaking the 6 minute barrier.
Looking at the car, and with respect to a previous thread, it is an astonishing video of Ackermann in action, you can clearly see the difference in angle between inner and outer wheel.
I suspect the car had a lot of toe in (note how in some shots the inner wheel is pointing more or less ahead, the outer wheel at a sharp angle towards the body. This would give increased stability but critically slow the car down enormously without using the brakes. One might even suspect that the rear tires are toed in too.
Top speed I reckon was probably somewhere between 70mph and 90mph, (engine revs never get too high) which is still brave under teh conditions. It was also interesting that he was often staying off the beaten track, especially the tractor tracks, steering by the pressure of the snow on the wheels in the understeer, and one assumes he was on the highest rideheight possible, you really wouldn't want to ride the bottom of the car over snow.
Depth of snow 2 inches?
